These “About” pages have become the bane (yes, I did have to look that up) of my existence so I’ll just be quick…
First, thank you for making it to The Flying Travel Guide. I don’t know how you did it but I’m glad you’re here. No doubt I’ll spend hours combing through Google Analytics to figure out how you found me.
The Gist of this Flying Travel Blog
It would be cliche to say, “I like to travel…” and while authentic, doesn’t get to the heart of the matter and frankly, who doesn’t like to travel?
In a room full of pilots, it would be utterly stupid to say, “I like to fly,” so I won’t say that either.
Instead, I’ll say…
I’d like to close the gap between the General Public and General Aviation by linking airport communities with the normal people who live around them.
You find yourself in Chicago (or Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or Hall’s Crossing, Utah) for four days. One of those days, you’re committed; maybe you’ve got a family reunion or high-powered business meeting. The other two days are travel days where you have some time wherever it is you are but not a full day.
In the time you have, you want to see a bit of the town, eat some decent food and get a good night’s rest.
What do you do? Where do you go?
Here’s where I hope to help you out.
This Travel Blog chronicles my trips and tips as a pilot. Most of these trips are not personal, so I have a limited amount of time in any one place. What I’ve always wanted to know is, “In the limited time I have, what can I do here?”
So there it is. Or, there is what it was.
Besides this, there are many, many places on this planet, near and far, where a person can meet wonderful people, explore historic, beautiful, tranquil or bustling places and eat delicious food without having to clean up the mess.
I’m out to find them… which sounds much better than…
This travel journal is about good memories, photographs and stories about connections that last a lifetime interspersed with some tequila-fueled commentary.
